We are committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where individuals beginning a new chapter can rediscover their passions, develop essential life skills, and embrace daily self-care practices.
Through community, accountability, and meaningful connection, we help each person build confidence in their abilities, strengthen their independence, and move forward with purpose and hope, empowering them to rewrite their story on their own terms.
Rewrite Recovery Supportive Living for Women proudly welcomes and affirms cisgender women, transgender women, and non-binary individuals who feel our women-centered environment is the right fit for them. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, compassionate community where every person is seen, valued, respected, and supported throughout their healing journey.
Who we serve
Rewrite Recovery supports individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use, co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, and process addictions. We recognize that each person's path to healing is unique, and we believe far more connects us than the labels or diagnoses that may have brought us here.
At Rewrite, we see the person beyond the diagnosis. While our experiences may look different, many of us understand what it means to struggle with emotional pain, patterns of behavior that no longer serve us, and the challenge of learning new ways to navigate life. Our community is built around what we share: the desire to heal, grow, connect, and create meaningful change.
Our approach is informed by twelve-step principles, including honesty, accountability, service, connection, and personal responsibility. For residents recovering from substance use disorders, participation in a twelve-step program is an important and required part of their experience at Rewrite. For those whose primary needs are related to mental health, eating disorders, or other challenges, support is tailored to their individual recovery goals and treatment needs.
Our Story
Katy and Jennifer's friendship began in the summer of 1996 at Chin Chin on Sunset Boulevard, where Katy was working. Jennifer had recently arrived in Los Angeles, jobless, hungry, and a long way from the streets of Chicago, when she walked into the restaurant looking for work. Katy, mid-bite into a dark chocolate-covered fortune cookie during her shift, looked up to find a wide-eyed stranger standing nearby. She introduced herself, offered Jennifer a cookie, and just like that, a lifelong friendship began.
Over the years, their friendship weathered every kind of storm, and through it all, they never let go of each other.
In 2005, Katy lost her father, Bobby, to alcoholism. The grief was overwhelming, and already struggling with her own addiction, she spiraled deeper into the darkness. By 2010, standing on the edge of a second suicide attempt, she found her way into the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous. What happened next changed everything.
Jennifer had a front-row seat to her best friend's transformation. Watching Katy reclaim her life inspired her to seek her own healing, and in 2015, she stepped into her own twelve-step program.
Together, they began living by its principles, and slowly, quietly, their lives changed. Blame gave way to accountability. Self-loathing softened into self-compassion. Obsession gave way to purpose. They stopped chasing what they thought they needed and started building lives grounded in connection, community, and service.
Two people whose stories once felt hopeless found hope in each other and in the community around them. Through their own experiences, they came to understand something that would eventually become part of the foundation of Rewrite Recovery:
We don't heal in isolation.
In 2016, they began dreaming of a home where others could experience the kind of connection and support that had transformed their own lives. A safe landing. A community. A place to be seen, supported, and empowered to begin again.
In 2018, that dream became Rewrite Recovery Supportive Living for Women.
Today, every person who walks through our doors is invited to discover their strengths, reclaim their voice, and begin writing the next chapter of their life on their own terms.
Who we are
Katy Eyer
Katy is a San Fernando Valley native and a recovering alcoholic whose personal journey of recovery sparked a deep passion for helping others. Her work in behavioral health began in 2012 when she accepted her first position as a counselor. She went on to complete the Addiction Studies Program at Pierce College and holds a CATC II certification as a drug and alcohol counselor and supervisor.
Katy's professional experience spans both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, where she has worked with a wide range of vulnerable and underserved populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, those impacted by incarceration, people living with HIV, and those navigating substance use, mental health, and co-occurring challenges. Her work is deeply informed by social work values and grounded in compassion, dignity, self-determination, and the belief that every person has the capacity for growth and meaningful change.
Katy is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Arizona State University with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Her continued education reflects her commitment to growing as a clinician and deepening her ability to support people navigating complex and intersecting challenges.
Through her personal and professional experiences, Katy recognized the need for supportive living that offered more than a place to stay. She envisioned a home grounded in connection, accountability, compassion, and community, where each person could feel seen and supported as they found their footing, strengthened their independence, and began building a meaningful life. That vision inspired her to co-found Rewrite Recovery with her best friend and business partner, Jennifer Guerrera.
Katy is committed to empowering each person to discover their strengths, reclaim their voice, pursue their goals, and write their next chapter with hope, purpose, and connection.
Jennifer Guerrera
Jennifer is a business leader, advocate, and entrepreneur whose work is rooted in a deeply personal understanding of recovery and a lifelong commitment to helping others. Her dedication to service began early. As a teenager, she volunteered at Marklund Children's Home, a nonprofit organization serving children with profound developmental disabilities and complex medical needs. After relocating to Los Angeles, she continued her advocacy through volunteer work supporting survivors of child abuse.
Alongside her dedication to service, Jennifer built a successful career in business, with decades of experience in business development, customer service, and project management. She holds a Master's Certificate in Business Project Management from Villanova University, bringing strong operational leadership, organization, and strategic vision to her work today.
Jennifer's own journey through twelve-step recovery deepened her understanding of the transformative power of accountability, connection, and community. Inspired by her personal experiences and a shared vision for creating a different kind of supportive living environment, she partnered with her best friend and business partner, Katy Eyer, to co-found Rewrite Recovery Supportive Living for Women.
At Rewrite, Jennifer brings together her business experience, commitment to service, and lived understanding of recovery to help create a home where each person can feel safe, supported, and valued while building confidence, strengthening independence, and creating a meaningful life in recovery.
Jennifer is committed to ensuring Rewrite remains a community grounded in integrity, accountability, compassion, and heart, where no one has to navigate the journey of healing alone.
